If you encounter an SQL error near the end of the Joomla installation process you will have to open and edit the the joomla.sql file from the installation/mysql/ directory. In this file you will need to replace all instances of "TYPE=MyISAM" with "ENGINE=MyISAM" for your installation to complete.
